6 Comm - Headless [Schwarzrock - 2006]

6 Comm managed to conjuring up an intriguing a dense cross of coil like dark electronics, ethnic percussion dense rhythmic matter, melodic touches, clever sound source manipulation and splattering of avant-garde twists and turns. With  occultic  & pagan  based wordy vocals that fall somewhere between Jonh Balance, Scott Walker and Marc Almond,

This double disk set collects together work from 1985 to 2005, and Surprisingly none it sounds really very dated. Patrick Leagas  is the main man behind 6 Comm,he was one of the founding members of Death In June, but left the band in 1985 to form 6 Comm and  to pursue his interest in dark rhythmically experimental music. What’s clear though out both disk is the depth and detail of sound production and sound use- this never comes off sounding like gothic electronica or EBM, it’s always elegant and darkly rich. All manner of sound source is used to build up the dense sound scapes, from all sorts of layered instrumentation, deep trace inducing rhythms and clever samples. For the most part disk one Headless concentrates  on the more trance inducing rhythms,  electroncia come ambient drifts and experimental touches. Leaving the second disk Let the moon speak, to more traditional  song structures, that touch down in world music, soothing panoramic pop, rich electronic elements, dense rhythms & all manner of genre pick & mix

A very  varied and well thought out collection of songs, that will surely intrigue and  reward fans of  intelligent  singer-song writer  music  & dark electronics. Only thing is I wish that been more info about the origin of the songs and Patrick Leagas himself. To find out more about the project and hear samples go to here
