Fuckhead - Lebensfrische DVD [Mosz - 2007]With a name like Fuckhead you know you’re not going to be in for an easy or laid back ride. The band are on one- hand are a genre shredding musically entity that melds together; avant rock, operatic touches, electronic overloads, jazz, and noisy oddness. On the other-hand their performance art terrorist whose live shows and video are often bewildering and disturbing, touching on taboo subjects such as insanity, male sexuality with a heavy doses of nudity and visual overload. This excellent and really definitive DVD brings together all of their videos, footage from worldwide live concerts including Scott walker Curated Meltdown festive performance. A bizarre and puzzling interview with art critic and commentator Mathew Collings, that takes place in men’s toilet while two of the bands members proceed to clean the urinals in see-through too-toos!. Also you get the bands as full and varied discography in Mp3 format, which shows the band mutating from a slightly odd avant punk band into mixing jazz and weird operatics and otherwise strange vocals, to electronic cuts up and general complete musically genre misregard, that often test ones sanity to it’s limit. I guess the thing that’s most over-whelming here has to be the videos, which are amazing and brain melting trips into visual overload, they consist of bizarre sped-up and strobe out mathematic 3D shapes, bent and morphed faces and complex violent psychedelic overload. Trust we wont every have seem anything like this on MTV, be rather amusing to see what this would do to cannon fodder pop fans, I suspect make them jibbing wrecks!. A puzzling audio/ visual overload in every sense of the word, that’s a fitting tribute to one of the worlds strangest and provocative bands/art projects. Crammed tightly with hours of disturbing music, imagery and chaos- that just makes me wish that I had a huge 50 inch TV now to show it on. Roger Batty
