Maaaa - S/t [Kovorox Sound - 2007]

Maaaa are a Russian noise project that here consantrate on two tracks of harsh screeching and metallic dragging, glass cracking, and junk yard crashing mayhem. This was original released on Triangle micro label in a edition of 20, here it’s brought back into garish violent live by kovorox sound- in a rather nice half size lime green dvd case, with orange/black outlay cover.

Track one enters with streached alien sounding metallic  slamming and banging tones, with some wonderful rich harmonic feedback trails that develop into eerier and violent bird like calls before once more been swallowed up by boils sound. All the time the tracks seems to offer up new screeches, crashers and seething rips and boils of sound. Maaaa clearly know how to keep their noise craft active and interesting and of course very brutal. Almost feeling at times it will melt ones speakers when grows very dense and harsh, after many painful and invigorating twist a turns we end track one at the 12 minute mark- which literal seems to have flown by.

Track two  jumps in with a dense collection chugging like noise tones, which develops into a bent voice like mumbling tone coming off from it, like monotone newsreaders voice turned up to the max and feed through peddles. Again the track doesn’t stay in one places very long, as the layers are built, altered and corrupted, but through out the original chugging noise like riff keeps come back to the surface, becoming almost harshly musically towards the end of it’s 15 minute life.

Sadly I've be unable to find little about Maaaa, but it seems from the images I’ve tracked down they’ve put on  quite a bizarre theatrical over the top live performance. This really was a very enjoyable and satisfying near on half an hour of noise mayhem and I will be keeping my eyes and ears out for Maaaa in the future.
