Vanishing Voice - Stone Tablet [Important - 2007]Stone Tablet is a strange tripped-out and psychedelic trip into groove locked, muilt layered kraut rock. Mixing in discordant and bent elements, battered guitar heroics, synth drug hazes and all manner of audio freak-out and sound psychedelics. The album consist of two tracks, the first running a whooping 32 minutes and is called Stone Tablet. It starts off with bent /warped acoustic guitar elements picking out a wonky rendition of a folky/ classical guitar melody- it all seems very streached and odd. Before long the churning drums togeather with guitar and bass come in as the first element fades out, on top are layers of weird droning elements and guitar picks. Through the remainder of the track the drums stay pretty present with all manner of audio flotsam and jetsam - be it guitar or bass loops, weird ethereal vocal calls, synth drones and all manner of effects peddles sound weave. Though it’s a mammoth running time, they manage to keep it interesting and hypnotic through out. The second track is only a mere 10 minutes called peace Symbols which starts in a very different tract. An odd mix of campfire singsong surrealism, odd /bizarre pings and pongs of sound, and tripped-out matter- getting odder and odder as it goes on. Before midway drifting into fall-off-your -sanity drone and heaving scapes, elastic band type plucking and all manner of psychedelic sound washes before ending quite sinisterly with an organ like throb. A great heady trip into locked rhythmic grooves, psychedelic sound craft. This is album comes in both cd and vinyl format with both version significantly different from each other. The vinyl coming in an edition of 500 in a screen printed shelve, I reviewed the cd version.
