Torturing Nurse - Groundfloor noiz [Kovorox Sound - 2007]Groundfloor noiz offers up an ear smarting chaotic 45 minutes mix of guitar feedback fires, overloaded vocals, whistling like distortion, piles of roaring and overloaded sound samples taking in; media samples, deflowered advertising jingles, raped J pop and easy Listening traces. All making an engrossing sound landslide, that always on the move. New textures angles and sounds appearing out of the crowd like roar, really if one was to compared this to anything it would be like walking though a vast amusement arcade -your brain picking up different sounds and textures, stuck advertising melodies, but then imagine it amplified and given some seriously distortion abuse. It always keeps quite a light and playful if still seething tone, this is fun noise I guess, there’s no real doom and gloom or brutal disconnect on offer here. But it’s still manages to be invigorating and head clearing like the best noise. This is the first release I’ve heard by Shanghai’s Torturing Nurse, having seen their name mentioned here and there, and it’s really want me to investigate further their other release. It’s also nicely packaged in a rather nice half size dark blue dvd case, with pink/black outlay cover, to find out more a buy direct go here. Roger Batty
