Sturmpercht - Stürm Ins Leben Wild Hinein [Steinklang Records - 2007]This is a reissue of the excellent Sturmpercht’s first album from 2004, never before released on cd, here it gets given a fine package treat with the cd housed in side a wooden slip. The album is wonderfully focused and full formed opening shot- Germanic tongued mixing together with quirky Apline Folk, Neo Classical, ambience, more thoughtful and emotional touched sound craft. Actually it’s difficult to decide whether this or their second album is the better, this has more quirky and playfully edges than the second album, though it seems to be over far too soon at 45 min mark. Were as their second album last 70 minutes plus, weaving a possible more varied mix of sounds, if not as playfully. I guess there as good as each other, so if you’ve already picked up the second album this is a must and if you have neither go out a buy both now!. I think the thing that makes the project so special and endless rewarding is their ability to play with many different musically styles and emotional texture, painting each in a convincing and rewarding manner. Here we go from playful troll like dances, to chilling and eerier cold industrial ambience, to heart felt acoustic guitar pick and strum. All done with a fine varied and often surprising instrumental textures. An near perfect album that takes you on a musically journey- that will make you laugh and smile, pull you heart strings and chill your playing air. This is sadly only ltd to 500- so do act quick or it could slip away. To find out more drop in here. Roger Batty
