Gregorio Bardini - Sentinelle Del Mattino [Eastern Front - 2007]Sentinelle Del Mattino is a rewarding and unique mix of flute playing, electronica/ industrial, neo-classical, cinematic and jazz. With spoken word and sampled elements, It’s for every darting into surprising genre mixes making it difficult to tie down to one place. The albums all composed and mostly played by the Italian Gregorio Bardini who has been on the experimental/industrial scene since early 80s, been part of the likes of TAC and Kino Glaz, collaborated with Thelema and Tuxedo Moon, Tony Wakeford. He’s plays here with an impressive and varied musically pallet taking in himself flute, electronics, keyboard, percussions, zurna, kena, ocarina, ciaramella- with a few guests along the way both musically and vocally. This really is a very captivating, atmospheric and varied album, he’s often put his flute over sounds and textures you wouldn’t normal expect, he has such a great ear for musically invention, but always making sure that it’s still atmospherically and musically competent never been experimental for its own sake. A wonderfully realized and varied album that will be of interesting to all who enjoy captivating well written and played atmospheric experimental music. It’s packaged in a nice fold out quality black on white folder & ltd to only a 1000 copies. Roger Batty
