KK Null - [BaryoGenesis] [Vivo Records - 2008][BaryoGenesis] is another brain melting and psychodelic trip into the audio world of KK Null. Stepping away from the more approachable and structure momentsof his recent Gamma Blaster and back to the deranged sonic rollacoaster ride that takes in electronic, noise, ambient and what ever else he fancies. As usual this it feels like the soundtrack to most twisted and acid soaked sci-fi story or film you could imagine. KK pulls and push you through all manner of synth twist, turns and oddness. Down pulsing rhythmic tunnels, out into strange groaning walkways before bombarding you with harsh rain drum patterns. Bent and warped techno clown vibes try to surface, before been over run by galloping electronic textures. Again this returns to KK Null interest in natural sounds but rarely in a clean state , there often bent and melted out of shape. This has quite a sped up carnival or funfair and sort of 50’s sc-fi vibe running through it as if you’ve crash landed on a strange vast metal/organic licked planet that’s just one vast and deranged funfair. You often find your self roving through sinister black and white organ pump, flying saucer sounds in overload and sped up, plus clouds of melted 50’s like TV jingles Another fine, truly distinctive and highly image invoking sonic trip from this Japanese master of mind sound tracking. Not really one for the newbie to KK Nulls mad world, but old timers will want embrace and overload on this with vigour. Roger Batty
