Otto Von Schirach - Ozzing Bass Spasms [Cock Rock Disco - 2008]

Oozing Bass Spasms finds Mr Schirach simplifying and adding more tuneful yet still stomping edger to his once complex and brain frying electronica. But without loosing his very distinct sound this is just more purified and focused- but still as demented, depraved and plainly odd as always.

I guess to try and describe Oozing Bass Spasms would be something along these lines take a squirt or two of techno and drum ‘n’bass, a squirt or two of sped -up manic disco and dance floor campnes gone sleazy. Then add in a big dollop of derange IDM fed through with horror and porn movie traces and vibes, some active/chuckle making and odd dialogue samples. And lastly but not leastly  Otto’s vocal talents which flirt between been deranged, sleazy, camp and at times a little scary.

Here he’s managed to toned down the manic rush of his sound, textures and beat complexity so nearly of all the songs have a beat to tap your feet easily along to and melodic hook lines to grab onto. Though this is still very manic, mad and very much a one off listening experience, this is stuff you’ll either get and embrace or it will be a big turn-off. On offer here are 18 tracks that for the most part are pumped-up  high octane tracks  lined with: throbbing, pounding and jerking synth lines that are pushed, slammed and pumped into by slamming and grinding often sped-up electronic rhythms littered with sexualized and sleazy/chanted lyrics/porn samples.

Really if your looking for something different, mind-warping and head- rushing with a cheeky and at times demented smile painted on it’s manic surface Oozing Bass Spasms is for you- easily the most approachable if still very messed-up Schirach album so far- oh & it has a seriously screwed, stomping and a just little sinister cover version of Prince's When doves Cry which really is unmissble…
