Fleurety - Las Minute Lies [Supernal Music - 1999]Fleurety, once a black metal band from Norway, but now active in the more stranger regions of music. This mini album is a sign of life after they released their debut: 'Min Tid Skal Komme' in 1995. I never heard their debut, since it's a pain to actually get it somewhere. This mini album is a mix of metal, jazz and the composers' own imagination. The duo got some help from a female session vocalist (Karianne Horn) on this album who sings on 3 of the 4 songs (the fourth one being an instrumental). She has a really nice voice, which suits the jazzy avant-garde music. The band is using some keyboards, but they don't overuse it, the music is more guitar based which is a good thing. The guitars don't have the typical metal sound either, not a lot of power chords, but nice melodies and strange riffs. The songs are very well composed and you need to listen to it several times to get into it. The fourth song especially, "Vortex", is really great. They included a saxophone, which gives it a really nice sober atmosphere. So really well done you will play the whole song again and again. So I guess your a bit confused now what Fleurety sound like, well it's hard to explain, but if you like avant-garde type of music then try to get this one since it's easily one of the best and most original albums I heard in a while.
