Anakrid - Banishment Rituals of The Disenlightened [Beta-Lactam Ring Records - 2008]Anakrid make dense, darkly psychedelic and often intense and surreal electro soundscapes and dark electroinca. You can hear traces of more beat bound Coil or Cyclobe at their more filmatic, doom horror organ soundtracking, ambient industrial tone and slight noise tendencies and even slight traces of more demented Resident like cinematic and surrealism stirred into the dense mix. The sound is built around a mixture of grim, horror tinged and paranoid synth, electro noise textures, layered and murky field recording, jarring dark beat making and grim gamelan workouts. The tracks managing to stay creepy, murky and atmospheric yet often full with energetic and surprising burst of beat matter, noise attacks, or sudden strange sonic turns that make sure you never get too comfortable or darkly chilled out. There certainly is a dark jester tendencies at work here and I strongly advise playing this in a fairly unaltered state as I’m sure with stimulates or drugs this could really freak one out in places. A highly atmospheric, at times demented shot dark electronica meets horror soundtrack and surreal uneasy, which twist 'n' turns and sometimes dementedly tweaks your nose like a psychotic clown.
