Gallon Drunk - Live At Klub 07 [Sartorial Records - 2008]Live At Klub 07 is a Pumped-up, wonderfully played & perfectly recorded live show recorded in Prague last year by Gallon Drunk and showcases wonderfully their distinctive brand of punk meets jazz, psychobilly, garage rock & surf. The disk features a fine selection of tracks from through out the bands discography with the pace kept fairly fired-up, sleazy and memorable through-out. But the thing that really put’s this on the top shelf above a lot of live albums is the wonderful mixing and sound quality through-out; with every element balance perfectly- it’s raucous, yet controlled and highly enjoyable. The guitar roars, growls and grinds, with a layered backbone of percussion mixing in rock, jazz and mamba flavours. The songs are weaved in & out by groovy and sleazy organ pumps and wonderful smoky, honking yet superb played Tenor sax by Terry Edwards. And of course all topped off with James Johnston sleazed wail ‘n’ croon vocals that sound better then ever. Really I cant think of a better played, recorded and re-playble live album in recent memory. Not only does it stands as a great live collection of some of their greatest songs played with really passion and flare, it’s a great introduction to the band’s distinctive sound Roger Batty
