Fukte - Сиби́рь [ [Zvukovina - 2010]'Сиби́рь [Siberia]' finds Italian based HNW project Fukte offering up a single one hour long track of walled noise, thats made purportedly from unedited digital recordings of a plane flight over Siberia using digital recorder with stereo microphone. The track is built almost total around a low yet thick aircraft like static purr or drone which has been amped right up. And though this claims to be totally unchanging in it’s state there are a few slight shifts or pitch movements through-out the track. There are also a few small static like blips & jumps over the top of main roaring wall of sound, along with on two occasions a few seconds of weird dialogue chatter or announcement coming out of the sea of static; which is quite surreal in it’s feel as you can’t really make out words- you just the feeling or grain of talking. But ultimately the track is one long emersion in static sound unfold which in the right frame of mind can be quite calming & soothing in it’s constant roar & drone. Though I’m not sure how much I believe the claim that this was recorded on a flight or in a plane; firstly you’d surely hear more background noise & movement over a hour plane joinery. And secondly at times you can hear what could well be sly edits or movements of texture and sudden Unnatural builds in static tone which I don’t think you’d get on a long form untreated recording of a plane joinery; but I guess it doesn’t really matter either way as the track is rewardingly engulfing in its right what ever it's orgin. For fans of more thick, roaring, unforgiving & mainly unchanging ‘wall’ making. And like all the other releases on this excellent purely HNW Bosnian based label the CDR comes with pro printed labels & full colour inlay. Roger Batty
