Slaughter-Fetus - Pro-Life Message [Violent Art Revolution - 2010]“Pro-Life Message” is the first release from Louisiana based industrially caustic Harsh Noise wall project Slaughter-Fetus. It offers up a C50 tape worth thick, murky and industrial weaved HNW texturing and extreme caustic drone matter. So starting off on side one we have track called “Kill The Mother/ Kill The Father” which starts out with a highly muffled and low grade ‘wall’ of repetitive, quite rapid wall making. I guess it’s best described as really lo-grade, suffocating and airless industrial drone or roar that’s set on endless repeat- yet underneath it’s endless and unrelenting churn are minor of elements like: noise blips, screaming fan belt like slips, buried voices and sudden textures of rolling atmospherics. These elements are never overtly oblivious, but when you get locked into the tracks hypnotic yet sleazed grain theses elements really add to the tracks enjoyment. The track comes in at just over the 20 minute mark. Over onto side two we have a track called “Slaughter The fetus” – this starts out with a really nasty hissing and boaring tone, which by the minute mark has taken on a more sustained electro drilling feel that’s underfeed slightly by analogue synth lo-grade spacey-ness. Like the first sides track there are once more other sonic flotsam and jetsam a-float just beneath the surface like: bleached out musical and voice textures through radio fog, and muffled raisers and murmurs of unidentifiable tone; but nothing is ever clearly hear or very well defined in the crude drilling ‘wall’ of the track. It really is a nasty, lo-grade scourge of a track that takes you to quite an oddly appealing yet highly sleazy place. I guess this track is more of a mixture of nasty industrialized drone and HNW than just purely HNW and it slips in just over the seventeen mintue mark After this we have what I presume is meant to be the track “shoot The Doctor”…I say presume as it could just be surface noise coming through from the other side of the tape. It’s basically just a series of three or four very murky and muffled sounding circular patterns- that I guess sound like vinyl crackle loops and this takes up the remaining seven or so minutes of the tape. Slaughter-Fetus is one of the many projects that Louisiana based Joseph gates(Vargrwulf, Peiste, R.S.P, L’exorcisme, ect) is involved in, and after hearing this and the projects second release “Tribute To Eihi Shiina” I think this is his most effective, consistent and brutally rewarding project I’ve heard from him thus far. So if you enjoy nasty & crude droning/ wall like industrial textures this it’s well worth checking out. Roger Batty
