Stress - Nervous Breakdown [HarshFuckedForLife - 2010]This C90 tape offers up two side long tracks of unrelenting and hope battering Harsh Noise Wall matter from this sadly now defunct Texas based project. The first side's untitled and side long ‘wall’ is built around a deep and bass heavy roaring tunnel like tone, thats mixed with smaller jittering static like tone. Theses two tones are reeled out along side each other in a near unchanging, highly obsessive and airless manner for the tracks near-on forty five minute life. Sometimes one tone element does seem more prominent or possible active, but I think this is just purely down to ones mind trying to cope with the endless stretch of this unchanging sound wall. But for all the tracks locked & near unchanging texture this is also very moorish & trance educing slice of long form ‘wall-making’ Flipping over to side two and we have another side long untitled track. This sides ‘wall’ is built around a faster rushing liquid through pipe tone, that’s seared by jittering static and rapid metallic hammering bombardments. The first sides track had a very constant feel of subdued yet boil rage, but this sides track is the relentless out pouring of pain and vein bulging rage. The track hammers, batters and rapidly pelts you with a thick unstoppable and near unchanging ‘wall’ of sound that sucks you deep into it’s enraged yet highly moorish near on forty five minute runtime. “Nervous Breakdown” offers up the listener two long, thick and often bass heavy walls of extreme and pummelling noise. It’s just such a pity the project decided to call it a day, as this tape certainly offers up some of the projects best and most punishing work of their short lived career in ‘wall making’.
