Drevne Bolesti - Welcome To The Standard Nightmare II [Zvukovina - 2010]“Welcome To the Standard Nightmare II” sees the Zvukovina label offering up another C60’s worth tape abused ‘n’ battered thick yet shifting walled noise matter. This time around it’s the turn of Drevne Bolesti which brings together Andreas Brandal(Flesh coffin, Hour Of the Wolf, Avmakt and Museums of Sleep) and Smrznik( aka Neven Misaljevich). Like the first volume in this series the excellent "Smrznik - Welcome To The Standard Nightmare", this feeds noise matter through a series of tape machines and tape manipulations, but unlike the clean ’n’ cold feeling of the Smrznik release this is a lot denser, storm- bound and ugly in it’s intent and sound. Each 30 minute side of tape finds the pair building up a huge tidal wave or towering wall of noise that’s a mixture of : sheets & grains of textural static, juddering ‘n’ ripping noise matter, roaring ‘n’ roasting tonalities & battered storm tone. Each side long track nicely shifts, batters and rages at you- yet for all its movement it still remains thick & unrelenting wall like in it’s structure. I guess the first side has slightly more shift and textural variation about it, with the second side been more battering ‘n’ bass rumbled in it’s feel- but both sides are hellishly thick, brutal and all engulfing. So two very nasty and shifting sides of walled noise that are brutal & enveloping, yet detailed & caustically swirled. Another great release from this label and another great release from this pair.
