Gluttoness - What Thy Wilt [Self Release - 2010]“What Thy Wilt” is a very short, sharp, atmospheric and wholly rewarding slice of sonic dread ‘n’ groan and HNW texturing. This 3inch business card release comes in at just under the four minute mark, but it really is quality over quantity here with Gluttoness showing more creativity & talent than some lessen HNW acts show in a full length release. First off the packaging is worth a mention as it’s a double sided thin cardstock black and white inlay that features old, kinky and devilish line drawings and litho-graphs that nicely set the mood for the tow tracks enclosed on the tiny business card disc. The first track is entitled “Bronchilator” and this comes in at the forty five secound mark. The tracks built around layers of demonic and deep growled human voices, and it opens the release in grim yet slight tongue in cheek manner. Secondly and lastly we have the track “Girth” which comes in at just over the three minute mark. The track starts out with a thick mixture of rolling drone noise texture, and a rewarding juddering ‘n’ darting static tonality. Pretty soon under theses elements the demonic yet slight theatrical & roaming growl can be heard again, and this adds an unsettling yet slightly humorous edge to the track. In the last or so 30 seconds of the track it drifts out into just the rolling noise drone ,before stopping in a noisy and almost punk sustain. So a small but perfectly formed release from this up ‘n’ coming stateside HNW act who really seems to put a lot of time, thought and effort in to each release he puts out- the only downside here is it’s all over so quick.
