Nervous Corps - Exclusion=Isolation [Gnarled Forest - 2011]Nervous Corps is the HNW/thick and blacked Harsh noise project of William Grace aka WM. Rage whose one of the main minds behind Seattle based blacked noise collective Blue Sabbath Black Cheer. “Exclusion=Isolation” is a 3inch cdr that offers up a single track of thick yet shifting tar black noise/drone matter with wallish dwells. The single 19.52 track on offer here starts out in a wonderfully full and blackingly engulfing manner. Imagine being in the middle of a unrelenting and battering snow storm in the darkest part of the night, well WM. Rage has managed to distil and put this grim scenario into sonic form here. He mixes together here the whipping and lashing of constant black static grain with grimy battering and billow wind like to noise textures, to create this wonderfully grim & encasing maelstrom of sound. As the track moves on towards it’s six minute mark the elements seem to become more defined and slightly less raging in there feel as you make out revolving static churn, the odd hint of distant and buried clunking, sculptured yet brutal storm wind tonalities, and swaying dark texrtureal grimness. The rest of the track really remains in this blackly ebbing and slowly shifting manner. I guess you can say the track starts off extremely ‘wall’ like, then drifts into slowly swirling and battering thick blacked noise matter. All told this is a rather appealing slice of black noisy grimness which will very much be enjoyed by those who enjoy a thick and ultra bleak mixture of Harsh noise, HNW and caustic black noise ambience.
