Foul & Snuff Film - Kill! Kill! [Pig Records - 2011]“Kill! Kill!” is c36 split that brings together two side long tracks of murderous, unforgiving & sleazed US based HNW. On side one we have West Virginia based Foul who have been putting thick ‘n’ horror fed walled noise since 2009. And on side two we have a side long track from relatively new Texas based project Snuff Film who offer up their pummelling and sadistic take on the HNW genre. This tape is put out by relative new HNW label Pig Records, which is run by one of the minds behind the Snuff Film project, and checking out their blog it looks like they have a lot of cool stuff on offer as well as this rewarding split. The tapes packaging is similar manner to Richard Ramirez's Deadline Recording releases- as the tape comes in a bag that features black ’n’ white paper inlay that has on it's front a Giallo or slasher type movie still of a shadowy figure about to plunge a knife deep into the naked body of a women. So nicely simple, but sleazily effective bit of packaging. So first up we have a untitled track from Foul, and this track starts out with 10 or so secounds of textured rubbing noise and a selection of female sexual moans- all of which opens up the track in a nice ‘n’ sleazy manner. Then we’re into the ‘wall’ itself which finds Foul blending together sliding, slipping, jittering & rumbled noise layers into a entranced yet grimly heady mid-paced wall of sound. The tracks ‘wall’ stays fixed & constant through-out, though of course there is the nice crisp ‘n’ sleazed shift of the textural layers. To me the track brings mind endless kaleidoscopic imagers of slipping, sliding, and brutally creasing blood splattered female flesh. All told it’s a great ‘n’ perverse slice of walled noise which finds Foul in a more shifting layer take on HNW than his normal battering ‘n’ brutal blacked outpourings. Over onto side two & of course we have the single untitled track from Snuff Film, and this track pummels straight in with a head smashing whack of rapidly blasting yet juddering HNW. Through-out the track Snuff Film create this great urgent mass of scalding, slicing & battering walled noise that is fairly simple in it’s make up yet it’s enticing & damn brutal in it’s attack. Where Foul’s track brought to mind the slow abuse & sexual torture of a victim, Snuff Film’s track brings to mind the raging & bloody battering attack of the victim until all that is left is a twitching ‘n’ squirting pulp. So this c36 presents the listener with two nasty, intense & sleazed slices of American HNW. With Foul offering up a bloody ‘n’ brutal layered textured walled seduction, and Snuff Film offering up a face ‘n’ limb smashing slice of raging walled noise. Roger Batty
