Roman Showers - Show Me Your Stomach Contents [Bored Bear Recordings - 2012]The charmingly entitled “Show Me Your Stomach Contents” is the fourth in series of twelve monthly three inch CDR releases that are to been put out through-out 2012 by Ireland's Bored Bear Recordings. Each release in this new series offers up a debut release from one of twelve new projects that are been put together by highly influential & respected Texas noise artist Richard Ramirez Roman Showers brings together Richard Ramirez with fellow Texas noise maker Nathan Golub(of HNW/ harsh noise project Ascites, HNW project The Godless Girl, and Gay S&M obsessed harsh noise/ HNW collective Black Leather Jesus). Sound wise this project is a stomach churning ‘n’ head drilling slab of active harsh noise. Theme wise, as the projects name & this releases title suggests, is vomit porn or Emetophilia. The 3inch CDR features just a single self titled track which comes in at just under the eighteen & a half minute mark. This track starts off with a few seconds of revolting samples from some vomit porn- with what sounds like two females reacting & vomiting on each other while sexually moaning. Then with-in just under the minute mark we are into the noise meat of the track, which is active & brutally seesawing mixture of: shunting ‘n’ searing mid-range noise texturing, sheets of rumbling ’n' bashing noise, feed back buzzing loops, forking ‘n’ lashing slightly higher/thiner pitchers, and swirls of clamouring yet buried male radio chatter. And from time to time more brief dips into vomit porn sampling appear. I’ll have to admit for the most part more common garden Hash noise does little or nothing for me, but I’m quite taken by seared ‘n’ sickening invention of this track as slices, sears & retches all over my hearing. So if you enjoy active ‘n’ gross harsh noise that has a creative glint in it's sick eyes this you could well be for you. I look forward to seeing how this project develops in the future…..just don’t try playing this after you’ve had your lunch! Roger Batty
