Jute Gyte - Faunscan [Jeshimoth Entertainment - 2011]“Faunscan” finds this one man Missouri based multi genre project focusing in more on the wonky ‘n’ aged IDM/ electronica side of his sound. On offer here are twelve tracks which last between three to near on seven minute mark a piece. The tracks move from quirky bright yet off-kilter electronica, which sound like they could be the soundtrack to some bright 'n' buoyant yet crazed 16 bit computer game. Onto unwell & strange metered IDM that’s fleck with weird polyrhythm’s, toy instrument elements & discordant almost modern classical electro texturing. Through to sinister ‘n’ uneasy synth scaping ‘n’ wonky organ weaves that ride over stripped lo-if beat back bones. Over to moody beat-less synth sound tracking. The tracks pace/ type is fairly varied through-out , and the album rolls by fairly rapidly going from child like quirkiness, through to wonky off-kilter-ness, onto sinister dwells & general electronic moodiness/ soundtracking. So all told “Faunscan” is another consistent release from this fairly prolific project whose releases have move from violently cut-up musique concrete, onto sinister IDM, through to bleak clunking mix of ambience and industrial tone, and in the last few years experimental black metal.
