Indch Libertine - Dedicated To Marco Mariolini [Sweet Solitude - 2012]“Dedicated To Marco Mariolini” is the seventh & last release in Sweet Solitude’s 'Shades of Grey' series- each title in this series finds a HNW artist theme their release around a famous murder case or murders. This release is based on Italian killer Marco Mariolini. In 1997 Marco Mariolini wrote a book, "The Hunter anorexic", in which he confesses seeking a partner who, when embraced, he can feel their skeleton. One year after the publication of the book, Marco Mariolini murders anorexic Monica Cal. This CDR release features a single forty minute track from Italian HNW project Indch Libertine. The ‘wall’ here is built around a near constant flow of dense hissing/steaming noise texture- at the start of the track there seems to be a few interlocking layers of hiss at play, but by the end it seems to have stripped down to just one dense loop of noise. The noise textures here are all focused on a similar mid range white-out. Every now & then you get crude sudden bumps in the ‘walls’ flow as new textures are added or taken out. Otherwise the ‘wall’ remains fairly firm & oppressive in its feel. So down to my thoughts on the release- I felt the hissing & streaming tones were quite effectively and fairly originally, though I did feel the sudden bumps in the ‘wall’ made the whole thing feel a little amateurish & awkward; but maybe awkward was what Indch Libertine was after. Not my favourite release in the 'Shades of Grey' series, but a passable release that’s come in at around the two & half/ to three marks( as we don’t do half’s I’ve given it three) Roger Batty
