Truchsess - Quisling [Claustrophilia - 2012]“Quisling” is the second CDR release from this new brutal bass ribbed HNW project from Canada, who have put out a few net only releases over the last six months or so. It offers up one slice of very effective bass pummelling walled noise. The self titled track on offer here comes in at the 53.03 mark, and the ‘wall’ here is one damn meaty & bone rattling bit of HNW. The track is built around a deep & vibrating bass bound low-end noise tone, and this is ebbed by jittering/ crisper noise textures. The ‘wall’ for the most part is fairly unmoving & extremely intense in its attack/feel, sure both elements here are fairly simple in their make-up, but damn this track is brutally appealing & truly earth-shaking in its feel. I’ve only played this on my head-phones, but I reckon if you played it through large speakers you could well shake windows out or cause structural damage to buildings. Sometimes the jittering crisper elements will seem to pan back from one of the stereo channel, and this creates a great intensifying effect. The ‘wall’ keeps your attention though-out it’s near hour long run time, as it seems to grind, vibrate & judder your brain for all it’s worth. With-out doubt “Quisling” is one of the most intense & effective slices of HNW your likely to come across. I very much look forward to hearing what this project will do next! Roger Batty
