Bördel Noïr - La Nuit Gruille [Claustrophilia - 2012]"La Nuit Gruille" is another slice of death scented, intense & oppressive walled noise from this fairly prolific & ghoulish French project. The CDR presents the listener with just over a hour worth of unmoving & inescapable HNW. This release comes in an edition of 25 copies. The pro looking light scribe cdr comes in a DVD case that features grey, skeleton & bone ridden artwork. And inside the case along with the CDR you get a small real bone taped to a black paper inlay- this adds that extra level of grim & ghoulish authenticity to the release. The one hour & three minute track on offer here finds Bördel Noïr bound together a low end buzzing ‘n’ juddering bass bound noise tone with a crisper mid-range noise tone. The track remains fairly mid-paced through-out. The 'wall' stays fairly fixed & total unrelenting over it’s full length, through from time to time the crisper mid-ranged tone seems to break down into more taut jitter bound intensity…of course this could all be a trick of the ‘wall’ & ones mind, but never the less it’s an rather effective in deepening the tracks enclosing & claustrophobic feel. The ‘wall’ is fairly simply, yet effective in it’s make-up, and I found myself grimly entranced by it for the tracks full running time
So this another very intense, grim & enclosing slice of walled noise from Bördel Noïr, with the ghoulish real bone element of the packaging adding a skin crawling edge to the proceedings. Roger Batty
