Nar - Self Titled [Self Release - 2012]This black CDR in black cover is the first release from this rather mysterious & information-less HNW project. Seemingly the project started in October 2012, when this disc was released, and really that’s all that can be found out about the project….there’s no indication on the net who the project is made up of, or what country they originate from. The Black CDR comes in a plastic slip case that features a fairly glossy piece of black paper that features only the words NAR on its front cover. The CDR features a single untitled track which comes in just over the fifteen minute mark. The tracks ‘wall’ is built around a mid-paced-to-slow judder that’s deep, meaty & bone rattling bass bound - this main tone has a line of crusty ‘n’ crushing rumbling sub-tones coming off it. The whole thing has a very dark, heavy & extremely brutal vibe to it, and to me the track rather conjured up images of huge monster like worms making there way though vast & pitch black subterranean caverns. Over it’s full length the track remains fairly fixed in it’s genreal structure, through as it progresses the crusty/ rumbling sub-tones do seem to become more pummelling, dense & violent in there attack. On the whole this is a rewarding enough opening short from this new & rather mysterious project. So if you enjoy dense, dark & brutal walled noise with a battering bass bound attack this is worth a look. Roger Batty
