Museo Della Tortura + Nascitari - Worms Ritual Dance [Santos Productions - 2012]“Worms Ritual Dance” is dense & grimly inescapable mixture of HWN & murky death ambient. This CDR collaboration brings together two Italian noise acts: MDT (Museo Della Tortura ) who started in 2003, and has over the years offered up a mixture of Dark Ambient, Power Electronics & beyond. And Nascitari, who started in 2010, and has always offered a bleak & suicidal themed take on HNW. The CDR comes in a green paper sleeve that features a few ritual themed like drawings printed in black ink. The CDR features just a single self titled track, which is apparently devoted to subterranean Rites. The track opens with a rising mixture of brooding earthy drone that’s cut by distant jittering noise crust. With-in a minute or so the track has becoming denser & thicker mixing together repetive & death scented curls of dark texture walled noise & churning ‘n' bass bound juddering. Around this are slow shifting & fairly haphazard mixtures of crashing ritual industrial hits, murky tonal judders, static fed crasher & all manner of fairly subtle noise matter. The track has a very bleak & lo-fi feel to it; so it’s slow searing instead of furnace roasting in it’s intent. The track remains fairly locked in it’s bleak mixture of repetitive noise churn & death ambient crash ‘n’ simmer for it’s first twenty five minutes, but after this point the HNW elements turn to more of a grim subterranean drilling/boring feel mixed with billow dark drone matter, and more open crashing death ambient clashers. All told this is a suitable murky & grim slice of dense noise submersion that I guess falls more on the HNW side of things than the death ambient side of things. Certainly it's worth a look if you enjoy things dense ‘n’ grim, with a thin layer of haphazard ritual noise making on top. Roger Batty
