Light Collapse - Seadative Romance [Toxic Industries/Irritant - 2013]

Light Collapse are fast becoming one of the more rewarding & prolific artists with-in the euro HNW scene. The Russian based project formed in 2005, and has since released  around 40 or so releases, taking splits with respected & recognized scene names like Vomir & Clive Henry. The project  is one of the three or four projects of Russian industrial/noise/ambient artist’s Vitaly Maklakov

“Seadative Romance” is a CDR release that offers up two untitled tracks that last between just shy of the twenty three minute mark, to near on the fifty minute mark. The release is apparently dedicated to Leonid Brezhnev- the genreal sectary of the Russian Communist party between 1964 & 1982.

The first untitled track comes in at the 22.22 mark, and it offers up a rather enjoyable & rewarding ‘wall’. It’s based around two or three layers of mid-paced noise- you have a jittering crisp static tone, a rumbling low end tone, and a juddering/ at times billowing tone that sits somewhere between the other two tones. Maklakov rolls out these tones in a fairly unmoving form to create the ‘wall’, yet it never becomes tiresome or dull; as he mangers to entrench the whole thing is this very addictive yet brutally encasing form.

The second untitled track takes up the lion share of the disc at the 48.14 mark. This track is a little bit more active than the first track, yet it’s still mostly rewarding & moorish in it’s attack. The ‘wall’  is built around three noise tones we have: a rolling low-end circular like billow/ judder, a crusty jittering/roar, and a rotating machine wheel like unfold- plus from time to time you get this locked down & muffled grey static churn, which takes over the whole track for a few moments at a time. Ever so often Maklakov slurs, or thin backs one of the layers, which  keeps things interesting, yet he always makes sure the track stays fairly thick & wall like though-out

It’s great to see that there are still worthwhile artists with–in the frankly lagging world wide HNW scene. Lets hope this project continues to keep putting out rewarding & worthy release, which will hopeful inspire those sceneters who have'nt released anything in a while to get back on the ‘wall’ horse, and of course infulnce new people to get into the scene & start making HNW themselves.
