Prosektor - Schizophrenia [Nefarious Activities - 2012]Prosektor is a dark ambient project hailing from Hungary, headed by a guy called Attila (what is it with Hungary and barbarians?), and this spray painted CDr is the first release of his I've listened to. What we have here is three tracks of old fashioned dark ambient clearly derived from a metal-ish background. Everything in the artwork screams "black metal intros", but actually and fortunately the sounds are not as bad as expected. Prosektor's material is sometimes reminiscent of Lustmord's output from early 90s, mostly very slow moving and extremely minimal synth lines intertwined in a simple and straight-forward way. There are no surprises whatsoever, and the three tracks proceed seemingly as a single chunk of drones and tones lasting just about seventeen minutes in total. Indeed the switch between tracks is very blurry and I can't really say that I can distinguish the three pieces from each other, but this is not necessarily a bad thing and at least there's not much time to get bored. I listened to "Schizophrenia" quite a few times but sadly it never got really stuck in my memory. It mostly just slipped away as background music, which is ok I guess since it's ambient after all. Prosektor is totally what you can expect: straight old school dark ambient. No more, no less. If you don't like this kind of material, just avoid this CDr. Otherwise give it a try and you might like it. And it still sounds better than the way more famous Hungarian Attila Csihar's Void Ov Voices. Fuck that crap. Nicola Vinciguerra
