Nighttime In The Abyss - The Loser Manifesto Notes From Dirt [Occult Supremacy Productions - 2014]The Loser Manifesto Notes From Dirt is the latest slice of sonic insanity & seriously deranged ‘n’ unsettling sound craft from this highly distinctive & original US project. Nighttime In The Abyss is a one man project who summon up a fairly unequal & always harrowing mixture of: disturbing spoken word, blacked noise, demonic power electronics, and dark ambience. This new release comes in the form of a download album on Indiana based Blackened Noise, HNW, Dark Ambient, Black Metal & Horror Drone label Occult Supremacy Productions(which is owned & run by Dustin Alan Redington of Crown of Bone, Tenebrious & Lord Of The Dead)- through apparently there is a CDR release planed. The release takes in two tracks- the title track. which takes in the lion share of the release with it’s forty two minute lenght. And a second five & a half minute track entitled “A Window Into My Holy Despair” The first track twists ‘n’ turns through a layered & deeply troubled mixture of one man psycho drama, chilling & unsettling ambience, sudden heart hammering brutal noise rises, and genreal sonic unwell-ness. It’s built around a shifting & truly nightmarish brew of :often layered vocal & spoken work elements-which move from raging, whispered, demonic, moaned, troubled & angered. Stripped back psycho ambient drifts & ebbs. And sudden ‘n’ sharpe head pummelling noise rises. These element are sewn 'n' weaved together into this truly harrowing sound scape, which mangers to be disturbing, morbidly fascinating, at times terrify, yet always strangely captivating. I won’t go into a minute by minute review of the main/ longer track here, because I think that would ruin the tracks element of surprise, tension & nightmarish unfold…but trust me the whole thing is cleverly constructed to cause the most unsettlement, fear & edge of sanity thrills. “A Window Into My Holy Despair” is like a sort of demonic , noised-up & truly nightmarish take on a barber shop quartet- with NITE building up a dense map of moans, wails, close mic tics, breathing sounds, and all manner of troubling human voice based sound. I do hope this gets a full physical release, as it certainly deservers it!- and lets hope if /when it does it comes with the main tracks full texts too, as reading the texts alone adds another layer/depth to the release. So to sum up The Loser Manifesto Notes From Dirt, if your looking for something dark & very troubling, that doesn’t really fit under one genre tag- this is certainly the releases for you!.
