Inanition - The Dead Know Nothing At All [Needle and Knife - 2015]Here’s a recent release from Inanition- a mysterious walled noise who has been active since 2009. This release comes in the form of a pro pressed CDR on Australian walled noise label Needle and Knife- it features one long track that comes in at just over the 78 minute mark. The labelled CDR comes in a plastic CD sized sleeve, which features double sided artwork- on the outside we have blurred 'n' hazed blocks of black & white shapes, and on the inside a murky map of grey & black slashed texture. The release comes an edition of 12 copies. The track offered up here is of the dense yet very subtle shifting variety, and when I say subtle I mean subtle!. The track is built around several layers of juddering ‘n’ jittering textures- these range between thicker & meaty, to more thin & weathered, to slightly more crisp & weak. These textures are weaved together into a fairly simple/ similar yet layered wall, and over the tracks length these seem to very subtle shift, blur & merger. I guess at times it almost moves move's towards ANW, but to my ears I’d say it never really fully gets there. On the whole the track kept my attention through-out, and it does get quite hypnotic- though as I say the shifts are very(very) subtle. So all in all this is certainly worth a look, if you enjoy very slowly shifting ‘wall-craft’. And it’s great to see this project return to the scene once again, as at one point it was releasing new releases ever month or so, then in the last year or so it’s output had dwindled somewhat.
