Graves at sea - Documents of Grief [20 Buck spin - 2006]Graves at sea mix upbeat doom, with slow-riffing stretched out moments, touches of grimy ambience and all toped off with growled vocals. They seem to perfectly balance between sounding morbid and groovy, evil and memorable. Documents of Grief is their self release from 2003, re -released for all to cherish and death groovy to by 20 Buck spin. There are four tracks in all lasting around the seven minutes a piece, and each seems to be chiselled bone deep with their very distinctive sound. Difficult to choose stand out's as each track is as good a each other, but if I was forced I’d say the second track Black bile with it’s dieing soon, groovy doom crushing riff. Towards the end of the track, it drifts in to great sinister clouds of looped and sickly ambience. Apparently their first full length is out this year, and if this is anything to go by it’s going to be one hell of grooved up death ride to hell and back, I cant wait.
