Faith No More - King For A Day Fool For A Lifetime [Slash Records - 1995]Faith No More can be seen as one of the best rock-bands ever. With 'King For A Day Fool For A Lifetime' they released their best album. It´s a close call between 'Angel Dust' or 'KFADFFAL', but personally I can find myself more in this masterpiece. Originally released in 1995 'KFADFFAL' still stands as a great rock album. You can´t go wrong with Mike Patton´s vocals. He really improved in the years and can be seen as one of the best rock vocalists nowadays. On 'KFADFFAL' he starts experimenting a bit. From smooth soulfull vocals in 'Evidence' to violent screams in 'Cukoo For Caca', he handles them like no one else can. After previous album 'Angel Dust' the band kicked out their guitarist Jim Martin and on this album Trey Spruance (Mr Bungle) handles the guitars. 'KFADFFAL' starts with 'Get Out', a powerfull and catchy track. Then with songs as 'Ricochet', 'Evidence', 'The Gentle Art Of Making Enemies' and 'Star A.D.' FnM can´t go wrong. All of these songs are classics in my book. 'Cukoo For Caca' has Mike doing some insane vocals and includes a big wall of guitars, it´s a really heavy track. Then back to soul-music with 'Caralho Voador' and with 'Ugly In The Morning' FnM goes insane again.'Digging The Grave' was released as single in 1995, but I can´t remember if it had the same succes as 'Evidence'. It doesn´t matter much since the track can be seen as one of the best tracks on the album. Next up are 'Take This Bottle', 'King For A Day', 'What A Day' and 'The Last To Know' and these are all great. The album ends with 'Just A Man', a good song with a gospel-choir backing up on the vocal-department. A nice experiment and a perfect way to end a perfect album. If you have to buy one Faith No More record, then this is the one you have to get. 'King For A Day Fool For A Lifetime' just plain rules!Niels van Rongen
