Not - Music for womb [At War with False Noise - 2006]You know when you’ve read a review or heard something yourself and compared to having a womb like quality? .Well Not’s Music for womb is just that pure and simply, really what might sound like to be inside adult size womb. Quite whether this is a audio joke of some form- poking fun at a lot of the environmental and sound based recordings is unclear. The cdr comes packaged in a tracing paper shelve with only an contact email and track album title, again possible this could be a dig towards the ultra minimalist packing of some labels that blur the bonders between art and cd packing. As for the sound it’s layers of streached out muffled and calming static, with the sound of a heart beat and organ movement in the distant for an hour, with little or movemnet in the tones and sounds. Quite what makes it all is uncertain, I suspect it’s down to sound manipulation of feedback or modified guitar tones or simply speaker hiss, but it could well be recording of the womb. An audio curiosity more than anything, as it does little in its playing time. I guess of interest for those looking for the a Zen noise/ ambient trip. For myself too little happens, really inducing sleep more than anything, maybe that’s the point of it all, who knows- to buy direct go here. Roger Batty
