Thomas Carnacki & Matthias Bossi - Andromache [Central Works - 2006]Andromache offers up a collection of eastern touched world/modern classical, drone, percussive and mystical work-out tracks all with little surreal/bizarre edged . Making a highly enjoyable and varied near on 30 minutes playing time. Apparently it’s the soundtrack for a Central works play written by Gary Graves, But I become aware of it due to the involvement of Thomas Carnacki, whom put out the excellent surreal/drone sound trip Far Voyage From A Placid Island. Andromache finds Carnacki joined by Matthias Bossi who co-wrote all the music and adds percussive matter, Suckdrum, tesla stick and growls. This is far more approached in a traditional instrumental/ soundtrack mood than Far voyage…. , with some beautiful vocal supporting roles from Carla Kihlsedt who also adds Nyckeharpa, Zither, bass harmonica & Bul Bul. Also appearing on one of the tracks as part of the Oneiromantic Ambiguity collective is Mat waldon of Irr.App.(Ext). The whole disk really is a very spell binding and haunted collection of string and rich female vocal led eastern sun hazed trips, weird music drone scapes and hallucinogenic percussive trips into night time desert scapes, mixing traditional melodies with home grown Carnacki & Bossi ones. A very rewarding collection of tracks that will sooth, make one soul rise and slightly puzzle here and there. To find out more about Mr Carnacki sound worlds drop into this sand dune. Roger Batty
