16 Bitch Pile-Up - Bury Me deep [Troniks - 2007]16 Bitch Pile-Up are an all female Ohio based noise/psycho ambient project. Bury Me deep is their first proper cd release, though they’ve been terrorising US stages and recording together since 2004. Through most of Bury Me deep the sound is surprisingly subdued for a Troniks release, the labels usual know more for face melting and devastating work. But that’s not to say there isn’t noise matter here there is, it’s just cleverly placed for ultimate jarring and fighting effect. Most of the sound world is built around slow swirling clouds of stale sweat drone craft, psycho ambient pitches of sour sound & just moving deviant drifts. More rhythmic matter appearing as the album develops- be it heart thumbing in chest beat patterns or rhythmic engine revving. With all manner of voice samples and sounds swiming sourly in the mix. It really has a tangible unpleasant feeling running through out, you keep expecting to be suddenly stapled gunned to the ground or feel cold steel lash out of the grey audio fog. When they finally decide to let it rip with overloading and chocking sound boils, it literal makes you jump out of your skin. A very effective dose of audio displeasure that will appeal to those who like slow torture instead severe audio beatings. Nicely packaged in a retro Herschel Gordon Lewis like exploitation/horror artwork, which folds out into various gruesome pictures of the band covered in tomato ketchup.
