Rakhim - Crimson Umbrella [20 Buck Spin - 2007]Crimson Umbrella presents two densely percussive journeys into grim & slowed black metal craft, cum dark space kraut rock. A devil rising ritual & black psychedelic tinged slab of atmosphere and calling to beyond the gate. Imagine if you took your favourite intro from a black metal track, one that conjures up a black priest's gathering in snow licked forest. Or the shadowy silhouettes of demonic forces ready to attack, or maybe the very galloping on satan's own hoofed presence, then extended it to 10 minutes plus - adding in more grim psychedelic effects, layering of percussion- some rock based some ritual based. Add in demonic shouts and chants from the abyss. And you’ll have this side project of members from two of Finlands underground greats Circle And Pharaoh Overlord. Both tracks nicely balancing ominous tones, slightly tongue in cheek manner and managing to keep ones attention throughout, instead of just been creepy background music. It’s all packaged in a nice retro looking sliver ink on black card folder, with a picture of the two members of Rakhim on the front- all dark glasses and studded and nail armbands.
