Jackie-O Motherfucker - Freedom Land [Very Freindly - 2008]

Jackie-O Motherfucker are a noisy and dense improv collective who wildly force together tangents of noise rock, jazz, space rock, noise, folk- indie and what every else captures there sonic eye along the way.

Freedom land is a collection of five live lengthy & dense tracks with moments of musical charity and sense surfacing ever so often from the muilt-instrumental, turntable and electronic pile-up. With through out any of the five tracks here it darts between been quirky, intense, playful & manic with the odd flecks of deranged beauty. Track two Shukran  starts up demented and haunted with  piles of honks, wails & ghostly volatizing then sort of forms it’s self into a rapid jazz drum  stop start march meets bizarre mumbles meets  discordant noise rock guitar pickings. Then it jumps into  'cut the string' space rock meets freak-out mode. Pull my daisy  starts with strange tinkling, picked and honking pile-up of before open up into flute flecked freaked-out of spacey effects, female space whispers and slight rising of  atmospheric guitar elements. Before ending with shambling indie rock groove meets 50’s female vocalizing 'a lost love' meets happy spacey tone rock groove.

As you can see it’s a very shifting, dense and difficult to pin down sound that you really have to experience the splendid chaos of it all to fully take in what there trying to create. Really if you enjoy music that sits between many genres in a haphazard, dense and manic manner with a distinct  freak- out/ jam rock learning Freedom Land is for you.
