Jazkamer - Solitary Nail [Pica Disc - 2010]Solitary Nail is the first of 12 bi monthly full length albums that will be released through-out 2010 by the highly creative & respected noise/general experimental Norwegian based project Jazkamer. The album features a single thirty minute track which like much of Jazkamer’s past work & albums covers a fair bit of sonic ground, & also like anything connected with this project you have to expect the unexpected. The track goes from: rapid, cut-up & juddering mixed tonally noise attacks, onto strange sped-up electro bird atmospherics & jittering improv electronics collages, through to weird hovering & calming wind drones, onto electric scuttles, rolls & knocks that seem to bang around your head as if it was a pinball machine. Into long stretchers of high pitched hum & feed-back drone smarts, through to teeth gritting & swirling thick sound batterings that take in noise matter, aggravated synth tone, jittering electro wild life & playful junk metal like attacks. The whole track nicely twist, turns & sometimes even drifts along in a highly enjoyable manner, and ultimately it’s a great piece of long form noise making & creative sound making from Jazkamer So Solitary Nail finds Jazkamer in their usually versatile, sometimes searing but always creative & rewarding sonic form. It’s a fine start to the series of 12 albums & I really can’t wait to hear what the next one has to offer. To find out more & buy direct pop along to Pica discs home base here Roger Batty
