Å - Le travail doit être maudit [Suprematist Records - 2010]“Le travail doit être maudit”(English translation work must be damned) finds this HNW project from north/east France creating one hour of unchanging, highly seared & brain boiling walled matter. This is the second release on this new Serbia based label, and it’s their first release in their minimal series. Fitting the series title the white simply labelled CDR comes in a simple paper slip sleve with just two squares of black, the projects name, albums title and the lable infro printed on it. The single hour long track on offer here roars straight into life with a mid-paced roasting ‘n’ slight locked judder bound ‘wall’ of very thick & engulfing noise making. Then this ‘wall’ locks it self down for the next hour into a near completely unmovable state, with it’s simple but effective noise patterns endlessly circling back into each other in a very searing and unrelenting manner. The track brings to mind an endless twisting meat spit that just goes round and round over a unchanging roasting heat. It’s certainly a very bleak, draining and hopeless sonic experience as Å really gives the listener no nice or appealing static patterns to lock into – this is all just one tone ‘wall’ of thick gray roasting static nothing more. So this is a deeply unforgiving, totally nihilistic slice of completely hopeless and painfully HNW making. I certainly appreciate “Le travail doit être maudit” bleak and unrelenting stance, and can certainty see this been appealing when your in your lowest life hating mood- but for me this is just too unrelenting and bleak for day to day 'wall' listening Roger Batty
