The first piece “Ascent” is made up of a rather unpleasant and too heavy on the bass frequency analogue synth sound that repeats over and over complimented by some other more occasional and digital sound. Add to this another gentler “glassy” sound coming in for a minute or two in the middle and you’ve got your first piece.
I don’t know if these are in date of composition order or not but this is certainly the weakest piece and sounds rather ill thought out and gives an impression of someone not really pushing the equipment they are using to its limits and just grabbing the first half decent sound they’ve found and running with it.

The second piece “Transmission,” is more digital in sound has more randomness and more variety and has a sort of glitchy-ness about it. There’s a slightly unpleasant phaser type of effect going on somewhere in the background that once I’d noticed it was hard to shake off and I would have preferred to have been filtered out somehow. It is however a vast improvement on track one.

Track three and we get to the longest piece. I’m not sure why this is put onto the Cdr as one piece as it seems to be made up of a number of pieces with noticeable gaps between them. It’s a mixture of analogue based pieces and digital ones. None of them are stunning pieces mostly just okay mixes of analogue and digital synths sounds the more analogue sounding pieces following the same formula as set out by track one.

Track four “Aeon” is a piece totally out of place with the rest of the album. More electronica with dance rhythms and a slow repeating digital keyboard refrain. Almost like Seefeel in chill out mood.

This 4 track cdr release is limited to 50 copies. I’ve mentioned it in reviews before and I’m going to have to mention it again. What is the point of releasing 50 copies of something? This is four tracks burned onto a bog standard (brought from a shop ) Cdr and stuck in a plastic wallet. Now if you’ve gone to all the effort to spend two years recording these tracks why oh why would you only want to have 50 copies of it in existence? Why have it limited at all. What is stopping there being extra copies burned it’s just a matter of burning another Cdr.  It’s not going make it more desirable or collectable unless you’re already established and have a following.

Rant over…. Not a great first release only the last track showing much promise. Would have been better to have forgotten about tracks 1 -3  and started again using the last track as the basis for a whole new album.
