Gender Sabotage / Ritual Stance - Third Gender / Bare Upon The Altar [Void Seance - 2011]“Third Gender / Bare Upon The Altar” is a split CDR that brings together two half an hour slices of engrossing, taut & creative walled noise from two US HNW acts. Up first we have a track from one of the more recent Richard Ramirez project Gender Sabotage, which started in 2007. This project is themed around the world of transsexual prostitutes, actors and genreal transsexual life. The track on offer here is entitled “Third Gender” and it comes in at 29.21 mark. The ‘wall’ is built around a locked rumbling machine judder & buried locked throbbing noise tone that’s over by seared a mid pitched wheel like texture- it brings to ones mind been stuck, bound & gagged on a vast convey belted machine that needs a little oiling & is taking you to some unknown place. I guess you'd describe the track as industrial seared walled noise, and it mangers to be both hypnotic yet intense & enjoyable ride. The second track comes from Richmond, Virginia based Ritual Stance. This project seemingly themes most of their work around a mixture of giallo movies & ritual themed murder. Their track is entitled “Bare Upon The Altar”, and it comes in at 28.29 mark. This ‘wall’ mixers together drilling muffled & sinister bass noise textures with a distant & grey locked static judder; this second tone later on becomes an more of skipping almost static dance. RS seems to have set it up so each noise tone is on separate stereo channels, so you get one noise in on headphone and the other noise texture in the other headphone, which gives one this great impression that the ‘wall’ is slowly but surely closing in around you with its taut yet darkly atmospheric & entrancing weight. One can almost see in their minds eye a masked figure slowly squeezing a panic victims head harder & harder between it’s black gloved hands. All told there are two very rewarding, creative & atmospheric slices of hypnotic walled noise on this split , and each ‘wall’ nicely compliments each other, I guess one could almost conjure up the plot of a derange giallo movie about a cross dressing killer to fit with the walled soundtrack of this split….A great split, that is well worth track down!
