Boar - Boar Live [Breaching Static - 2011]“Boar Live” brings together a varied & often surprising collection of live recordings made by American HNW/ Harsh noise project Boar. The recordings come over the last few years as the projects toured around the states with different noise acts. In all the CDR offers up ten tracks and these move from: grating ‘n’ juddering walled noise, onto roasting flurries of harsh noise texturing, through to eerier & space bound noise drone drifts. Onto brooding ‘n’ slow beat bound phrase/ electro noise work-outs, through to searing cable buzzing ‘n’ static texturing, over to rolling ‘n’ boiling HNW/ Harsh noise cross breeds. The tracks last between just under the three minute mark to just under the eight minute mark a piece, and each shows Boar in fine brutal yet creative form. Most of the recordings here are of an ok to good sound quality . Having only really heard Boar’s more HNW bound work I was very surprised by quite a few tracks here, as it shows that he has bags of ability not just in the HNW genre, but in the wider noise bound experimental scene. A must for Boar fans, but also well worth checking out if you enjoy any form of brutal yet creative noise. Roger Batty
