Sissy Spacek - Dash [Gilgongo Records - 2011]“Dash” is the last of the four Sissy Spacek CD releases that were put out by Gilgongo Records in November last year, and it may be the most manic, brain boiling & rewarding of the four. The CD brings together two releases- “Dash”, which originally appeared in 2010 in cassette form on EET. And “Anti-ClockWise”, which originally appeared in 2011 as a 7inch on A Dear Girl Called Wendy. There are twenty tracks on “Dash” & nineteen tracks from the originally “Anti-ClockWise”, plus another 19 tracks that seemingly come from the same session as “Anti-ClockWise”. For both of the these releases the SS line-up was: John Wiese on Electronics & Bass, Jess Jackson on Guitar, and Corydon Ronnau on vocals. With guest appearances from Norwegian noise head Lasse Marhaug, and Will Stangeland of American Synthpunk/noise rock project Silver Daggers. All 58 tracks here make-up a truly overloaded, unrelenting, and breathless attack on ones sonic system. The sound here is best described as truly manic & insane grindcore splattered ‘n’ battered with noise treatment & sudden jarring jump-cuts. Speedy drum patterns cut, stop & start over raging ‘n’ boiling vocal attacks that career and smash into guitar fed back roast 'n' speeds which are forced into sudden raging bass blitz. Then from time to time the cd breaks for a sudden & short all out textural noise attacks- be it road drilling overloaded or searing/ winching noise pitchers & screams. Simply put this is an gloriously manic & mouth foaming attack on ones head & hearing. With-out a doubt this is up there with the best of this projects most overloaded & up-to-ten grindgore noise corrupted records. Roger Batty
