Centuries Behind A Gate - No Hope [Breaching Static - 2012]“No Hope” is the 4th release from Centuries Behind A Gate, & this CDR pins you to the floor & never lets up. Behind the project is prolific HNW Iowa based noise maker Alex Nowacki of Boar, Phantom Rib & I watched You Die. The CDR just features a single 40.27 minute, and boy it’s a real head cleaning & damn battering slice of walled noise. The ‘walls’ mixes together two defined tones, and may be the odd sub-tone- We have a low end roaming ‘n’ billowing tone, and a low to mid end tearing ‘n’ ripping locked jittering. Nowacki rolls these two elements into a truly dense, throat grabbingly urgent & total un-escapable wall, which is both extremely brutal yet highly rewarding too. In the past this project has been story based, and sadly it seems Alex has decided to dump the story part for this release. Through maybe this is because this is part of the Breaching Static's sliver top series, and all the releases in this series just come in a plain plastic sleeve, with just a small cover sticker & paper inlay. I think sound wise this is my favourite release by this project thus far, as the tracks so damn battering yet entrancing. I just rather miss the story edge to the release, and I do hope he brings it back to future releases, as I think this adds a interesting & fairly unique edge to the project. Roger Batty
