Carrion Black Pit - The Iron Man [Muzikaal Kabaal - 2012]“The Iron Man” offers up a collection of junk & mechanical sound layered active walled noise. This release is themed/ based around the classic & deranged man turning into a machine movie “Tetsuo, the Iron Man”. Carrion Black Pit is a São Paulo, Brazil based project that mostly specializes in horror movie themed releases that utilize both HNW & ANW to create a brutal yet atmospheric sound. This release comes in the form of a CDR release that features four tracks that each fall between the ten to eleven minute mark. And as you’d expect there’s a very mechanical/ intense sci-fi industrial edge to the proceedings here. Opening up the release we have “Flesh Absorbed By Steel Scrap”, which starts out in very low end mechanical purring/juddering territory, before shifting into a dense ‘n’ churning meeting of juddering machine tones, jittering electro tone sears, twitching junk like flickers, and drilling hard drive like sustains. Mid-way trough the track peters back to low end stripped machine juddering, before once more moving into denser yet shifting HNW textural work-outs. Track two “Glimpse At A Brave New Junkyard World” is built around a mixture of fixed juddering ‘n’ buffeting noise texturing that’s under fed by buried electro fired sci-fi texturing, clutter junk metal descends & evil robot like bays. Track three “Together We Can Turn This World To Rust” is made up of overloaded electro machine juddering, baying & hammering noise- this is seared ever so by agitated harmonic like jittering that sounds like a amped-up dot matrix printer is attacking your head. Lastly track four “Game Over” is the most fixed & focused of the four tracks here- it locks down into a fixed roasting billowing tone dwell that’s met by skipping & slightly inverted static tone scrubs. So this is another worthy & creative bit of noise making from this Brazilian project, with all four tracks nicely capturing a searing & extreme machine/ horror sci-fi vibe nicely Roger Batty
