Dead Perfection - Found Dead on the Shore Of The Lake [Toxic Industries/Irritant - 2013]Dead Perfection is the HNW project of Italian power electronics project Deviated Sister TV. And “Found Dead on the Shore Of The Lake” is projects first full length CDR release, after a split & compilation appearances. Fitting the releases title there is a rather bleak & grim picture of a naked dead female lying on a shoreline. And the single untitled track on offer here comes in at the 48.18 mark. Sound wise the track mixers together purring engine back drone with billowing & juddering noise drones. From time to time you get the odd crisper or churning industrial sub-tones appearing, but mostly this retains quite a thin muffled yet meaty motor bike sounding ‘wall’ of noise. The noise layers shift & ebb a little bit over the tracks length, but there are no real big developments or shifts with-in the track's make-up. I’ve got slightly mixed feelings about this track: on the positive side I very much like the more meaty purring engine type tone here, and at times this track is quietly sleazy entrancing. On the negative side I’m less keen on some of the shifts & ebbs with-in the tones, as these often come off sounding a little awkward & ill timed, and at one particular moment the track nearly grindings to a completed halt all together- it just like Dead Perfection had just lost control of the ‘wall’, instead of petering it back deliberately.
Some to sum-up, while there are some effective elements at play through-out this -track, and in small doses this is quite rewarding. I’ll have to say the whole ‘wall’ seemed a little too long with not enough focuse given to the more meaty/purring elements of the track for my liking. Roger Batty
