Tarot - Ace Of Wands [Self Release - 2015]Ace Of Wands is the second release from this British junk metal based walled noise project- it’s planning to put out a single release for each & every one of the 78 Rider Waite tarot cards, and each release is been put out in a tape edition of four copies, and an unlimited digital download- I’m reviewing the tape version of the release. Each release in the series features two ten minute tracks(one on each side of tape)- so first up here we have the track “I”. This ‘wall’ brings together a meaty ‘n’ thick continually conveyer belt like churn, a violent juddering element, and a few thinner yet violently jittering sub-tones. Flipping over to side and we have “II”- this track fairly similar selection of tones to the first track; with a deep ‘n’ continual bass churn, a violent judder, with the addition of brutal junk cluttering. The release follows the fairly simple, yet effective feel in it's presentation of the other releases in the series - with the plan white cassette tape coming in a single sided white paper sleeve- on the front this features a colour reproduction of Ace Of Wand Card from the tarot card pack, along with minimal black texts & web-links on the spine/ back flap. I’d say that I wasn’t as taken by this release as the first release in the series The Fool- as the tracks on this part were fairly similar with not enough variation between. Though that said both tracks are well put together, it’s just they felt too close to each other. But I guess with a series this large you can’t expect every release to be as good, as each other.
