Offical Team - Sonikillage Volume 2 [kovoroxsound - 2015]Sonikillage Volume 2 is the second slice of sonic wackiness & crazed retro collage from this Scottish project. Much like the first volume this second CDR release offers up twenty seven tracks that blend & meld together all manner of sonic flotsam & jetsam. This time taking-in a shifting sonic canvas of the following elements: snippets of lo-fi 80’s electronica/ gabba, retro J-Pop, dramatic yet melted film scoring with beats added-on, space invader sounds, melted TV channel themes from 70’s/ 80’s, oriental advert jingles, bland US TV jingles, news samples from around the time of the JFK assignation, and moon landing and all manner on quirky ‘n’ melted sonic silliness . Once again the release appears on kovoroxsound- which is the long term label of Scottish noise maker & sonic experimentalist Lea Cummings( of Kylie Minoise, and many other projects). The album artwork doesn’t detail who is involved with the project, but I strongly suspect it’s Mr Cummings & buddies. I guess you’d say this vol is a little more musically, and less purely non musical sample based. Also there is a bit more layering & blending of elements going on here too. So on the whole I’d say it’s a more listenable, yet still rewardingly jarring compared with the first vol. All told it’s great to see a second release from this project, and I hope there’s more in the pipe-line, as they seem to growing in both quality & listenability as they go along. Also this vol will be of a bit more world general interest, as the first vol was quite focused on retro TV samples from Britain in the 70’s/ 80’s, which of course doesn’t mean a lot to those who didn’t grow up in that time in the uk.
