Chier/RRR - NaziSSexperiment [Porn Noise Records - 2016]Here we have a split between two French walled noise act, and the theme of the release is perverse & depraved Nazi exploitation movies of the 1970’s. The release comes in a C30 tape on perverted French noise label Porn Noise Records. The plain black tape comes in a single sided glossy black & white cover. On it’s front we get a murky & perverse collage-this takes in a picture of a female strapped & gagged, various crude surgical tools, two-headed babies, gasmasks, and unformed crowd. And in side we get a few stills of Nazi themed exotica…all told it’s sums up the themes of the release well, but it may offend some. Though I guess if your buying a Nazi exploitation themed release on a label called Porn noise…..you know what to expect ;-). So first up on side A we have a track from Chier, and it’s entitled “Part I”. The ‘wall’ is a suitable dense & perversely muffled affair which brings together two layers of juddering ‘n’ churning noise- these have a fairly tight tonal range of low-to-mid. And their patterns are set towards a simple, firm, yet crudely suffocating mesh of ‘wall-craft’. I can’t say this is the most creative or original sounding ‘wall’ I’ve heard from this project, but as crude & dense set ‘wall-craft’ goes this is effective in it’s unrelenting attack. Flipping over to side B, and we have “Part II” from RRR. This ‘wall’ brings together a tense mesh of popping ‘n’ snapping textures, with a buried undercarriage of buffeting ‘n’ juddering. Again it’s hardly reinventing the wall-noise wheel, but it’s a effectively taut, nasty, and temple pressing slice of HNW- which both fits the subject matter, and works as attention fixing ‘wall’. So in conclusion- if you dig tight, tense & crude wall-noise nastiness then NaziSSexperiment is worth of your time. It came in a scene generous edition of 50 copies- so I’m sure you’ll still be able to get your grubby mitts on a copy. Roger Batty
