Clue To Kalo - One way, it’s everyway [Leaf - 2005]At its heart One Way, It's Every Way is a glorious sunshiny pop/folk album. That brings back fond memories of The Birds and their Ilk. But with an electronic backbone, that’s rich in invention and replay-ability. Unlike a lot of electronic artist’s who attempt to mix experimental elements with pop. They stretch and add annoying noises (say stuff off the Morr label). Clue to Kalo Lets the material shine in all its tuneful glory. Mark Mitchell, Who is Clue to Kalo, Quite simply has a great honey curled voice that performs multi harmonies, which gently waltz around the guitar work and subdued electronics. A few highlights: Seconds when its minute’s with its great feet slapping on floor beat and nicely strummed guitar. The Just is enough Were great a piano and Guitar Melodie, are floated around by Light harmonies and a tune you won’t be able to get out of your head. Come to mean a natural Law with an almost Simon & Garfunkel feel to the harmonies with some neat organ , a jazzy twist and light electronics. Along the way, There’s some great lyrics too Like “Tonight I thought you were funny and mean, the way you boiled in the corner until You ran out of steam” from As Tommy Fixes Fights The album strolls along at a leisurely pace, It’s not world changing stuff. But like a pleasant walk in the countryside, it enriches your soul and makes you feel good. Roger Batty
